Singapore Ministry of Education (MOE)
Problem
The Ministry of Education (MOE) previously managed admissions through
fragmented, high-pressure manual or semi-automated processes. With
thousands of students applying simultaneously (e.g., after the release of O-Level and PSLE results), the legacy infrastructure struggled with massive traffic surges, leading to system latency and a heavy administrative burden for manual eligibility verification and posting logic.
Solution
Scalable Cloud Architecture: One of the first major projects deployed on the Singapore G-Cloud, designed to handle over 1,200 concurrent users during peak “results release” windows.
Unified JAE Internet System (JAE-IS): A single, browser-based portal where students view pre-calculated eligibility (Form A) and submit up to 12 course choices for JCs, Polytechnics, and ITE.
Automated Merit-Based Posting: Implements complex algorithms that instantly process student choices against aggregate scores and citizenship priority to determine placements.
Seamless Authentication: Integrated with Singpass to ensure secure access and eliminate the need for separate school-based login credentials.
