BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, BRUNEI – TOPPAN Ecquaria is proud to announce the official signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB). This strategic partnership marks a significant milestone in strengthening Brunei’s digital ecosystem through capacity building, academic innovation, and the development of future-ready talent.
The MOU was signed by Yang Mulia Datin Professor Dr. Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor of UTB, and Chong Ser Wah, Managing Director from TOPPAN Ecquaria. National Recognition: Featured on RTB
The significance of this partnership was recently highlighted by Radio Television Brunei (RTB), the nation’s broadcaster. The coverage on national TV underscores the importance of this collaboration in supporting Brunei’s national aspirations and its journey toward a digital-first economy. This milestone reinforces the value of strong industry-academia partnerships in driving the country’s long-term growth.
Empowering the Next Generation of Digital Architects
This partnership moves beyond traditional corporate agreements by embedding TOPPAN Ecquaria’s proprietary KAIZEN, directly into UTB’s Undergraduate and Masters curricula. This “living lab” approach ensures that students are not just learning theory but are gaining hands-on experience with the tools driving modern governance.
Key pillars of the collaboration include:
- Certified KAIZEN Developers: Students will receive joint certification upon completing specific modules, graduating with industry-recognised credentials that validate their technical proficiency.
- Cutting-Edge Curriculum: Training will focus on the frontiers of technology, including Generative AI, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems, and Agile Methodologies.
- Faculty Empowerment: TOPPAN Ecquaria will provide dedicated consultation and training for UTB faculty, ensuring the long-term sustainability and high performance of the digital curriculum.
- Economic Impact: The initiative extends support to local MSMEs and government agencies, fostering a culture of innovation and regional competitiveness.

A Global Mission for Digital Transformation
The partnership with UTB mirrors TOPPAN Ecquaria’s successful global initiatives, such as its recent work with Fiji National University. By replicating these high-impact models, TOPPAN Ecquaria continues its mission to help governments worldwide build the infrastructure and human capital necessary for a digital-first future. “We aren’t just preparing students for the future of work — we are giving them the tools to build it. By bridging TOPPAN Ecquaria’s digital heritage with UTB’s academic ambition, we are creating a powerful engine for Brunei’s digital transformation.”
Through this collaboration, TOPPAN Ecquaria and UTB are committed to nurturing a generation of Bruneian talent ready to lead on the global stage, ensuring the nation remains at the forefront of the digital era.
